Containment and prevention
Containment for the green crab includes a Zebra Mussel and European Green Crab Task Force which was established in 1998. Their task is to prevent and control these two invasive species. Coastal management was made to track the spread of the crab around the United States. Another way they prevent the crabs from spreading is that they have restrictions on imports from out-of-state; they are required to do one-hour chlorine dips for shellfish seed . It also is required to have a permit for shipping and handling European Green Crabs. Shell fish growers and seafood handlers are required to inspect their products and equipment for the crab.
